Subjects of the Examination

In the Matriculation Examination, tests can be taken in more than 20 subjects. In some subjects, candidates may choose between tests based on a basic, intermediate or advanced syllabus. To complete the examination, candidates must sit at least five tests. The only compulsory test for all candidates is the test in mother tongue and literature.

The tasks in the tests are based on the national core curriculum for general upper secondary education. The content of the tasks may be based on both compulsory courses and nationally defined optional courses. In addition, the tests may include interdisciplinary tasks that are based on transversal competences.
